TERASHAIN (tare-uh-shane) is a hard-melodic Rock band based in Phoenix, AZ. The band has been active in the Phoenix area nightclub scene since 1990. TERASHAIN became known in the mid 1990’s for putting on an energetic, arena-like rock show with strong, dance-able rock originals containing high soaring ballads and hard-rock anthems. The band began fusing their original tunes into a full four-hour Rock cover set in 1998, and continues to play a mix of popular rock classics, and TERASHAIN originals that a very loyal following have come to expect from them. In 2001, TERASHAIN released their first self-released CD “Truth” to an anxious following of loyal listeners. The CD quickly generated a buzz and show attendance began to soar. With the addition of guitarist Dave Hassie in 2002, songwriting for the follow-up CD commenced almost immediately. In October of 2006, the long awaited, 14-track “Dawns Early Life” hit the local Phoenix scene like a heard of wild stallions, sending the band to new heights and creating serious demand for the performance of tracks from the new CD. Singer Roger Penton hits new levels of emotion with soaring vocals, while guitarist Dave Hassie delivers technicality with melodic tones to sonically enhance each song. Drummer Mike Carnicom and Bassist Lance Etchells have created and captured a thunderous rhythm unmatched by other rock bands. Fans and critics alike are finding value in the strong songwriting on the CD. Singer/writer Roger Penton notes, “As writers and melodic-rock fans, we set out to make those songs that could be used as a sort of soundtrack to life. Songs that you can really feel what the writer was feeling just by the way it is sung or played. That’s the stuff that we grew up with.” Among the most common comments about “Dawns Early Life” is the diverse mix of tunes included on the CD. The band charges out of the gate with the rock anthem “No Tomorrow”, and then melts the hearts of romantics with the love-pledging ballad “Next To You”. Listeners also find feel-good gems like “Dreams Gone By” and “Hearts Desire” equally appealing. But perhaps the most requested, and popular song at the live shows, “Keeping Secrets” has proven to be the track that has generated the most positive reviews. Whatever the listener’s taste in music, all audiences are sure to find enjoyment in “Dawns Early Life” from TERASHAIN. And in the Fall of 2007, TERASHAIN acquired second guitarist Tevis Maloney to round out the sound, and add to an already strong line-up. The band has recently debuted an all new show, complete with enough cover songs to last an entire weekend without repeating a song. TERASHAIN will start writing songs for the next CD in the Fall of 2007, as well. You can find samples of ALL Terashain original songs in the 'Music' portion of this website.

Tribute

Michael Edward Anderson
1964 - 2005

There is a song on ‘Dawns Early Life’ called One Door Closes. It’s easy to tell early on in the song that it’s a tribute to a lost friend, and a quest for information about the circle of life. As much as we like the song, it’s one that we sure do wish we didn’t have the inspiration to write…

In June 2005, the extended TERASHAIN family lost a member. Our founding drummer, Mike Anderson died in his sleep. Those of you that had the good fortune to have had Mike in your life know just what we lost that night. Mike had an amazing passion for life. He was a passionate guy that tried everything life had to offer at least once, and he enjoyed most of it! Among his greatest passions, however, were his son Eddie, his brother Jon (founding guitarist and great friend), and his girlfriend Marie (long time friend of the band). Mike gave 100% to his friends and family, and TERASHAIN was no exception. Long after he had vacated the drummer position with the band, he continued his strong friendship and support with this band in at least a hundred different ways. The guy was always there to be a big brother to all of us, and we all knew we were better off with him around. Life was just that much better when you were hanging around with Mike, usually laughing!

As you can probably imagine, one of the best perks about being in a band is the camaraderie you develop with your ‘partners in crime’, or your other band members, and of course the friends and fans. It is with sadness that we play a set at Hardtailz without him there to handle a belligerent drunk, or come up to play a tune on drums, or deliver his traditional 10 rounds of beers to the stage. But it is with pleasure to know that we were even lucky enough to have had those things with Mike to begin with. Over time, our tears become smiles from the amazing memories he gave our family.

We just wanted you to know. Thanks for reading!
