No Tomorrow
Had to write one about America's other favorite past time - makin' love all night long... slow, deliberate, passionate sex until the sun comes up, just like it was your last night on earth.... I'll just leave it at that.
Like a deal gone bad
You’d think I might’ve had
Better luck until now
But after our night out
You turned me inside out
And somehow upside down
We can love tonight like there’s no tomorrow
Yesterday’s a memory that tonight shouldn’t borrow
Drifting into the light
Your spirit moves in the night
You know you’re bringing me in
And I can’t speak for you
But I think you dig me too
Feeling good to the end
We can love tonight like there’s no tomorrow
Leave it all behind, forget the pain and the sorrow
Just wish the world away, blindly pushing on
Making love tonight like there’s no tomorrow
Like a deal gone bad
You’d think I might’ve had
Better luck until now
But after our night out
You turned me inside out
And somehow upside down
We can love tonight like there’s no tomorrow
Leave it all behind, forget the pain and the sorrow
Wish the world away, blindly pushing on
Making love tonight like there’s no tomorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow…
All That I Know
Well, this song SOUNDS like it should be about pure SEX. Love the drive and the groove that Mikee laid down. But the guitar made me feel as though a tale was being told of Love gone BAD, real bad. I think we have ALL been this guy at one time or another. Bummer.
You’re in a graceful state alone in your chair
Too wrapped in Hendrix now to know that I’m there
You speak without a sound in three different tongues
And after 40 days, surprised that I’m numb
The lies of our love sleep between us at night
Tools of infection only add to the fight
Six weeks, or nine, I’d say you’ve done all your time
Enjoy the luxury pretending I’m blind
It’s all that I know
All your life you’re taught to hide from the cold
When icy air moves in your heart hits the road
The silent threats and allegations ensue
Houdini’s talent couldn’t save him from you
Our trust and our faith
Have made their escape
Insane with the pain
And the shame is all that I know
Next To You
I really dreaded writing the follow up ballad to "Castles in the Sand" from the 'TRUTH' CD... But the writing came at a time when I hit a new level in life - New wife, pregnant with my son - Now if you can't find something sweet to sing about at a time like that... This one just wrote itself until about 3:45 in the morning, and it says exactly what I was feeling then AND now.
It’s a silent Sunday morning
Sunlight on your face
The world goes on around us
While you dream in sleeping grace
Sometimes I feel so lucky
To be the man to hold the key
To a lifetime of tomorrows
And our unknown destiny
I don’t pretend to know it all
But I know this much is true
I’m looking at forever in your eyes – I’ll be standing next to you
In a venture to the moon and back,
I’d meet with Father Time
To treasure every second spent
Between your heart and mine
Making memories together
And sharing all your days
I’ll be the one to touch your face
And wipe your tears away
If the world falls down on you
I’ll be there to pull you through
Yes I can see forever in your eyes – and I’m standing next to you
And if I get to heaven first
I’ll be smiling down on you
I will be forever in your eyes
I promised you forever by your side
I will live forever in your eyes – standing next to you
I’ll be standing next to you
Dreams Gone By
This is one of those tunes that was written with an evil grin... Don't we all have that "one that got away" and you just gotta smirk when you think of the crazy shit you used to do or say to each other... and you sometimes wonder where you would be or WHO you would be if you would have ended up together as adults?
You were with me
Together we’d run all night long
Brave and Free
The radio would play our song
Bare feet
Hearts pounding wild with every beat
Back seat
Dad’s Chevy with the windows steamed
The best nights of my life I’ve spent with you
And I’m hoping that you think about me too
Sweet sweat
In innocence we’d play along
Lover’s pledge
To one another we belonged
Class clown
Had the answers down for everything
I’m too proud
I was tough as nails and right as rain
The best nights of my life I’ve spent with you
I’d go back today to see your face and dream away
Paint me a picture of dreams gone by
Fools pride
You knew how to put me in my place
Well I lied, you cried, we tried, but it died
I couldn’t keep those tears from off your face
The best nights of my life I’ve spent with you
I’d go back today to touch your face and dream away
Paint me a picture of dreams gone by
I’d give anything for those days gone by
Yesterday
The summer dreams came back to me
Separately
You and I would live our histories!
The best nights of my life I’ve spent with you
And I’d die a million times to share your space and dream with you
Won’t you paint me a picture of dreams gone by?
I’d give anything for those days gone by, those days gone by
Whoah, Oooh, dreams gone by
Paint me a picture!
Dreams gone by
Risk
Absolutely the MOST heartfelt, ass kickin', balls out dedication to the Warriors of this country - past, present AND future - to our Military Men and Women - We thank you for our freedoms as Americans... It took on a much more meaningful tone when we lost our brother Dustin J. Feldhaus in the line of duty on March 29th, 2011. RIP buddy.
I understand
Life and death in the eye of the storm
Here where I stand
I knock you back to the day you were born
It’s easy to see
Your tactics are no mystery
I’ll see you in Hell
Before I let you get the best of me
I am the man
The one sent to take you down
Our war is at hand
Taste the dirt with your face in the ground
You don’t value peace
But you’ll get a piece of me
I’ll see you in Hell
Before I let you get the best of me
You can’t win this game of Risk
Imminent Apocalypse
One on One just you and me
Meet your Maker gracefully
Two worlds collide
And yours will retreat to the sea
With my troops by my side
Your demise, my sweet victory
Now you’ve messed with the bull
And your ass gets the horns from beneath
I’ll meet you in Hell
But you’ll never get the best of me
You can’t win this game of Risk
Imminent Apocalypse
One on One just you and me
Meet your Maker gracefully
Live And Learn
Whew, thats a lot to say, isn't it? I got carried away, and I just couldn't cut anything. Just couldn't. It's dedicated to our lovely wives. Our pockets are all sewn up, ladies! Love you.
I remember as an eight-year-old
Pockets full of marbles
Many more than they would hold
After chasing girls and lizards home
The sun setting behind me
As I sang the theme from Twilight Zone
But my spinning world stood still that day
My pockets void of treasures
Like a forty-niner losing precious gold
You can waste your tears on emptiness
Or get up and start again
Thank the heavens for experience
Better off for having them
I’ve had memories come and go
Hieroglyphics on my soul
And holes in my pockets
Just like I did back then
I hit the concrete now and then
But I get up and I get by
The years and miles and life flew by
Me and High School buddies
Hanging out behind the bleachers getting high
The three of us would talk all night
Passing borrowed liquor
Making promises of loyalty for life
But Graduation came and went
Kindred souls went separate ways
Not ever to come face to face again
Stay lost in teenage innocence
Or get up and start again
Thank the heavens for experience
Better off for knowing them
We were young and we were free
Now they’ve slipped away from me
Through holes in my pockets
Broken bonds from way back when
Crack the concrete now and then
But I get up and I get by
You can hang your fears on bitterness
‘Til it brings you to the end
Or live life with new experience
Strong enough to let ‘em in…. Again
Life is changing every day
Showing me a different way
Holes in my pockets
Just like I did back then
I hit the concrete now and then
But I get up and I get by
That April day she gave me love
The sun sets now before us
Life is open as the sky above
Now once again my pockets full
Rich with long lost treasures
And lessons from that eight year old!
Cast away the loneliness
‘Cause I’m never letting go
Trading marbles for our memories
Never slipping through the holes
I Live and Learn with you each day
And I won’t let you get away
Through holes in my pockets
You and I until the end
We’ll hit the concrete now and then
But we’ll get up and we’ll get by….
Living life for you each day
It was meant to be that way
No holes in my pockets
Forever my best friend
Tough as concrete to the end
We’ll get up, We’ll get by!
Holding The Ace
I watch the setlist at every show for this one. By FAR, my favorite song to sing from DEL. Dave just gave us such a cool guitar sound to work with, and Lance and Mike nail the backing vox. Fun groove, too.
She’s been in here almost every night
I throw her cards and dirty jokes until she smiles
First impressions leave me wanting more
Stakes are rising but my heart just hit the floor
There’s not much I don’t understand
And I’m not a patient man
But she’ll double down in a lovers rage
And she’s past the bluffing stage…
She’s such a mystery – yes, but I got the Ace
This heart is history – Yeah…
Lady luck has been her latest flame
She’s on a winning streak with fashion for the game
Hit or stand tonight, I’ll move with grace
She hates to want me but she knows I hold the ace
She breaks the house and takes my heart
It’s tearing me apart
I know she’ll take a hit on Seventeen
With me in all my dreams… Oh, yeah…
She’s such a mystery – because I’m holding the Ace
This heart is history – Yeah!
She breaks the house and takes my heart
It’s tearing me apart
I know she’ll take a hit on Seventeen
She’s the Queen of all my dreams – Oh, yeah…
She’s such a mystery – such style and grace
This heart is history – because I’m holding the Ace
She’s such a mystery – such a mystery, such a mystery
This heart is history – Yeah!
Keeping Secrets
You naughty girl, you! This tune just spewed out of us one day in rehearsal. Every time we play it live, there is a wall of sound from the crowd and that just feels DAMN good! One of the most powerful TERASHAIN tunes to sing. We chose to make this a FREE downloadable single available to everyone.
I’ve been searching for clues from you
It seems forever and a day
Changes tell me something’s going down
Like I’m getting in the way
Moving shadows by the bed that we share
Tell me you’re not there alone
Chasing your lies from room to room
And you’re not even home
She’s keeping secrets, it’s killing me
This isn’t how it was meant to be
Without her love, I don’t know where I’d be
You say I’m just being paranoid
But I can’t help what I feel
Sometimes the lines of love grow weak
Creating doubt in what is real
You’re all I’ve known for so long now
I think I’d know if you’re in love
Sooner or later it’ll come to me
I’ll find the strength to rise above
She’s keeping secrets, it’s killing me
This isn’t how it was meant to be
Without her love, I don’t know where I’d be
So hard for me to understand
This circus life she’s living in
A piece of her goes everywhere I am
Her sweet deceit is haunting me
Through eyes of steel she sees me bleed
One Door Closes
This is a song we really wish we weren't inspired to do. In the Summer of 2005, we lost a dear friend, and the original drummer for Terashain to a heart attack. Over time, many of the tears have turned to grins, but not a day goes by that I don't think of this dude! What a Guy! We were honored to have original Terashain guitarist, and Mike's brother Jon come in and do the solo on the track. It can't be easy to nail a guitar solo for a song written about your late brother. Jon Anderson is the consumate professional, and a great friend.
We miss you Mike, and think of you always.
I’ve had lots of time these last few days
Just to sit and think
Of how you’ve touched my life so many ways
And what you’ve meant to me
Now the door you have before you
Only you can go through
Ooooh, I wish you well
Some things I think that you should know
That I never got to say
Your friendship meant the world to me
And I long for one more day
Of making memories and music
Right now we all could use it
You know, this hurts like hell
And I look to the sky and I close my eyes
I can see that one door closes and another opens wide
It’s the circle we all start in
Our spirits taking part in
A fearless dance of time
It seems time is hard to find these days
And you’ll miss it if you blink
I send a message to the ones I love
And I don’t have to stop and think
And I look to the sky and I wonder why
It has to be that one door closes and another opens wide
My son will come to know you
Through the stories I hold onto
You’ll always bring a smile
And I look to the sky and I close my eyes
I can see that one door closes and another opens wide
It’s the circle we all start in
Our spirits taking part in
A fearless dance of time
I’ve had lots of time these last few days
Just to sit and think…
Wish you well
You’ll always bring a smile
I can see that one door closes…
And another opens wide, I wonder why?
Hearts Desire
Lance and I wrote this back in the mid-90's and never used it. He and I actually recorded it a few years back, but not with the band. Dave heard it, liked it, and he and Mikee made it MUCH better, so it made the DEL cut.
They say that youth is when the soul runs wild
So much to see out in this world
Inside us all a restless child
An empty page awaits the word
You can run if you believe how far
Just a dream to pull you in
Challenge all you are
Open up from deep within
Only you can find your Hearts Desire
No one else knows what it means
Start with sparks and build a fire
Touching others with your heat
It seems we all move way too fast
Milestones of life become a haze
Pushing forward from the past
Take the time to feel your way
You know time won’t wait for you
And it won’t slow down
But you never knew
It would come from deep within
Only you can make your Hearts Desire
No one else knows what it means
Start with sparks and build the fire
Touching others with your heat
Only you can make your Hearts Desire
Dare to live among your dreams
Spirit helps you to inspire
It’s closer than it seems
Remaining life, it waits in the dark
What’s done is already done
An unknown star will make its mark
It lights the path to run
Only you can find your Hearts Desire
No one else knows what it means
Start with sparks and build the fire
Touching others with your heat
Only you can make your Hearts Desire
Dare to live among your dreams
Spirit helps you to inspire
It’s closer than it seems
Your Hearts Desire
Only you… Whoa!
Anything you want is in your reach
Baby you can have it if you please
It’s in your reach
Visualize yourself among your dreams
Tarantas
Dave doing what he does. We just HAD to incorporate his love for flamenco guitar into a rock song, and man, did he ever rise to the occaision. Close your eyes and listen with headphones and try to hear the story told on the strings. Good shit.
Incognito
Such a departure for us, and I have to credit Hassie for that. I really enjoy the flavor of this one, and it's a kick to sing, too.
Free me from life without your love, my Senorita
Forgive me, for in your arms is where I bleed
Receiving each and every kiss is meant a gift
Believing you don’t return the way I feel
Incognito
Incognito
Tempt me with eyes as dark as nights of Spain
Revealing your skin, your touch, your secret heart
Incognito
Your love is locked inside your heart
Incognito
Incognito
Eyes as dark as nights of Spain
Incognito
Generation Mine
Every generation feels the burden of blame from the one before. Why don't we just end that damn cycle right now. Oh, but then I wouldn't have been pissed off enought to have written this. HA!
Don’t cross the line
Don’t waste my time
Don’t tell me all the shit in the world is mine
Not mine
All black and blue
They tortured you
Go find another place for a new tattoo
That’s fine
Revolution, revelation rhyme
Preparation, separation kind
Got your mental doom
For the baby boom
Paid by the hour in a padded room
Killing time
And a penny saved
Is a penny earned
To give it to the man with cash to burn
Is a crime
Liberation, celebration sign
Self-fixation, generation mine
Can’t believe it’s killing me
Blistered hands and aching feet
Hefty price for the air I breathe
I said it before and I’ll say it again
I can’t be blamed for every sin
This generation will defend
Got a fire inside
That satisfies
The stain you leave when you burn my pride each time
I’ll tell it true
You blaming fools
If you bite the hand that feeds you
Then you’ll lose
Restoration, meditation fine
Blessed nation, generation mine
Can’t believe it’s killing me
Blistered hands and aching feet
Hefty price for the air I breathe
I said it before and I’ll say it again
I can’t be blamed for every sin
This generation will defend
Revolution
Revelation
Blessed Nation
Generation Mine!
